CTO and PRS enter closer cooperation

On April 23, 2025, PRS signed a cooperation agreement with the Maritime Advanced Research Centre (CTO S.A.).

The agreement between the institutions covers a wide range of joint activities, primarily the implementation of research and development projects to support the shipbuilding and offshore sectors in Poland and abroad.

The cooperation will include in particular:

  • development of new technologies and standards for the maritime industry,
  • participation in projects financed from national and EU funds,
  • joint research and analysis in the areas of aerodynamics or hydrodynamics, structural strength, dual-use technologies, environmental testing of industrial devices and ship equipment, and environmental protection,
  • organization of training, seminars, and conferences related to the maritime sector,
  • periodic consultations and exchange of information in the areas defined in the agreement,
  • substantive support in the work and tasks carried out for the benefit of the IMO, the EU, and the Polish Maritime Administration due to existing obligations resulting from signed international agreements.

In terms of priority tasks, both companies will provide substantive support to each other in terms of research, testing, and measurements related to PRS fulfilling the role of a Recognized Organization acting on behalf of the flag state in fulfilling the role of a verifier of IMO or EU requirements and related to the decarbonization of shipping, especially in the area of ​​improving the energy efficiency of maritime transport and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

CTO and PRS will conduct specialist consultations or carry out orders related to the requirements for performing analyses using CFD methods in the field of ship technology development, implementing innovative solutions for the safety of shipping and/or the use of alternative fuels in shipping or other industries, as well as orders regarding the optimization of propulsion systems and thrusters using CFD and MES methods.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the CTO by President Jan Dobiński, and on behalf of PRS by President Grzegorz Pettke. On behalf of PRS, the cooperation will be coordinated by the Director of the Research and Development Division, Marek Narewski. The concluded agreement is another step in expanding PRS cooperation between Polish economic entities for the development of Polish technical thought and supporting the Polish maritime economy.
