Polish Register of Shipping was honoured to participate in a large Mid-Autumn Festival celebration organised by HEXIN Group in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
The event brought together over 700 representatives of numerous companies from the maritime sector, including ship management companies, shipyards and other industry stakeholders.
Strengthening strategic relationships in Fujian Province
Karol Pokora, PRS Shanghai Business Development Specialist, was personally invited to the event by Director Ji Junjie. The invitation reflected the developing relationship between PRS and representatives of the local maritime and business community in Xiamen.
The ceremony was opened by the President of Zhejiang Zhongtuo Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., wholly- owned subsidiary of Zheshang Zhongtou Group Co., Ltd., who welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of mutual trust, cooperation and long-term relationships within the maritime industry.
PRS participation in the celebration provided another valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships with partners and representatives of the maritime sector in Fujian. The province is one of China’s important maritime and shipbuilding centres, and PRS has been consistently developing its activities and business network in the region.
In recent months, Xiamen has become an increasingly active location for PRS business development, supported by the efforts of Karol Pokora to establish and develop relationships with local companies and maritime stakeholders. His presence at the HEXIN Group event attracted considerable interest from representatives of ship management companies, shipyards and other organizations operating in the maritime sector.
Key networking and direct business dialogues in Xiamen
During the event, Karol Pokora held several direct discussions with representatives of industry companies. These meetings provided an opportunity to present PRS activities, exchange experiences and explore possibilities for future cooperation.
For PRS, the event in Xiamen was not only an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, but also another step in developing the company’s presence in south-eastern China. Direct engagement with local partners remains an important element of PRS business development in the Chinese market.
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebration also demonstrated the importance of personal relationships within the Chinese business environment. The warm and friendly atmosphere of the event provided a valuable opportunity to build mutual trust and further strengthen cooperation between PRS and its Chinese partners.
Fujian and Xiamen: high-potential maritime hubs in China
Fujian is one of China’s major maritime regions. In 2025, the province’s total shipping capacity reached approximately 20.5 million DWT, while its ports handled 756 million tonnes of cargo and 18.44 million TEU. Fujian has a well-developed maritime, shipbuilding and port industry, covering container shipping, bulk cargo, specialised transportation and international logistics.
Of particular importance is Xiamen, one of the major shipping centres in south-eastern China. In 2025, Xiamen Port handled 211 million tonnes of cargo and 12.51 million TEU. The port operated 182 regular container services, connecting Xiamen with 145 ports in 53 countries and regions.
PRS commitment to long-term growth in the Chinese market
The concentration of shipowners, ship management companies, shipyards and other maritime businesses creates a significant market for classification, technical supervision, surveys and certification services.
PRS will continue to develop its activities in Fujian and other regions of China, strengthening cooperation with shipowners, ship management companies, shipyards and other stakeholders across the international maritime industry.
