PRS and DNV establish strategic partnership for offshore wind project certification in the Baltic Sea
Polish Register of Shipping (PRS) and DNV have officially signed a cooperation agreement, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership in the offshore wind sector. Under this agreement, both organizations will join forces to participate in joint tender procedures for comprehensive project certification services covering upcoming Polish offshore wind farm developments in the Baltic Sea area.
This agreement represents a foundational step in building a sustainable, long-term synergy between a leading global certification body and a national classification society with extensive local maritime and industrial heritage.
Leveraging complementary strengths
The collaboration brings together two highly respected technical institutions, combining DNV’s internationally recognized benchmarks and specialized renewable energy expertise with PRS’ deep-rooted knowledge of the local maritime environment, regulatory framework, and technical supervision capability.
Through this joint initiative, both organizations aim to offer project developers a highly structured, rigorous, and fully compliant approach to certification across all phases of offshore wind project implementation.
Strengthening domestic supply chain and industrial competence
Beyond immediate commercial objectives, this strategic alliance plays a crucial role in advancing national industrial capability. By integrating global expertise with Polish technical infrastructure, PRS and DNV are actively contributing to the development of local competencies within the rapidly growing offshore wind energy supply chain in Poland and the broader Baltic Sea region.
“This agreement marks an important milestone for PRS as we continue to expand our technical footprint in the offshore renewable energy sector. Partnering with DNV allows us to combine our complementary competencies, ensuring that upcoming offshore wind farm projects benefit from both top-tier international standards and strong domestic technical oversight,” said Krzysztof Topolski, PRS Industrial Supervision Division Director.
“Collaborating with PRS reflects our commitment to supporting the regional energy transition with robust, independent certification. Together, we bring a comprehensive value proposition that combines global practice with local presence to ensure the safety, reliability, and technical integrity of Baltic offshore wind projects,” stated Mette Redanz, Vice President Renewables Certification at DNV.
A long-term vision for Baltic wind infrastructure
The Baltic Sea is rapidly becoming one of Europe’s most dynamic hubs for offshore wind deployment. The partnership between PRS and DNV establishes a dependable platform to support energy developers, investors, and regulatory bodies in achieving the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical performance for years to come.
