PRS in Waterborne TP Management

We are pleased to announce that Marek Narewski from Polish Register of Shipping has been elected to the Waterborne Technology Platform (Waterborne TP) Board of Directors. Marek Narewski, who is in the position of Director of the Research and Development Division, has joined the management of the Association as the representative of European Classification Societies (currently, there are seven EU-based class society members in WTB). It means that the professional and scientific experience, contribution, and commitment of the PRS representative have been recognized and appreciated by the WTB Platform members.

New Waterborne TP Board

The new management of Waterborne TP was elected on 5 November 2025. Dr Maja Novakovic, Senior Change Manager – Engine Process Development – R&D Two-Stroke at Everllence, became the Chair of the Board. In addition to the PRS representative, the Board includes Chiara Notaro (Vice-Chair, Cetena), Jorge Quiroga Blanco (Vice-Chair, Navantia), Loïc van Staey (Royal Belgian Shipowners’ Association), Theresia Hacksteiner (European Inland Waterway Transport Platform), Trond Johnsen (SINTEF), Lukas Ross (DLR), and Benoît Loicq (SEA Europe). The term of the newly elected Board will last two years.

What is Waterborne?

The Waterborne Technology Platform has been operating actively since 2006, and since 2022, it has been functioning as an association. WTB’s main goal is to integrate innovative activities and broadly support the research and development path of the European maritime sector — from shipbuilding, ports, and logistics up to modern research and development companies.

Waterborne serves as a platform for dialogue between all entities connected with the waterborne sector (maritime and inland) and the institutions of the European Union. It brings together a wide range of stakeholders: classification societies, shipyards, shipowners, marine equipment manufacturers, infrastructure and service providers, as well as universities and research institutes, enabling them to shape the future of waterborne transport jointly.

Association Priorities

The strategic goals of the platform are:

  • building dialogue among all stakeholders in the waterborne transport sector and related sectors in the field of research and development (R&D),
  • jointly striving for the broadest possible consensus in research and development, and focusing efforts and resources,
  • developing a shared medium- and long-term vision for research and development, as well as a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA).
