Visit of President Andrzej Duda at the Polish-Chinese Business Forum in Shanghai

On June 26, 2024, the last day of the visit of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda to China, the Polish-Chinese Business Forum was held in Shanghai. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency, the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing organized the event. The Forum was attended by representatives of the business world and representatives of state authorities of both countries. The Polish delegation was led by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. During the visit of the President of the Republic of Poland to China, agreements on cooperation and trade, which are intended to support Polish companies in accessing the Chinese market and contribute to reducing the unfavorable trade balance for the Polish side, were signed.

The event was an opportunity to strengthen relations between entrepreneurs from Poland and China. About 300 people participated in the Forum, including many Polish and Chinese companies from various industries. On behalf of PRS, Mr. Leszek Pokora, Executive Director of “PRS (Shanghai) Vessel Inspection Company Limited” took part in the Forum. Polish Register of Shipping has been present on the Chinese market for over two decades. The clients of the PRS branch in Shanghai include Chinese shipowners who certify their ships with PRS, Chinese shipyards, and local producers of ship materials and equipment. Traditionally, PRS also provides its services on ships of other shipowners whose vessels call at Chinese ports or are undergoing repairs in Chinese shipyards.

Several previously agreed trade agreements were signed at the Forum, the opportunities of various sectors of the Polish economy were presented, and a panel discussion on economic cooperation between Poland and China was held. As usual with events of this type, many new contacts were established and talks were held that may result in future cooperation and mutual economic benefits.

The current visit of the President of the Republic of Poland and the support of the Polish authorities and diplomatic services create a better atmosphere for Polish companies to establish new and tighten existing business relationships.
