The International Maritime Exhibition Posidonia, held every 2 years in Athens, Greece, came to an end on Friday, June 7. This year’s edition brought together a record number of exhibitors – over 2,000, including 23 national pavilions from countries around the world: Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, Cayman Islands, China, Cyprus, Denmark, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Republic of Korea, Liberia, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Palau, Panama, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA) and countless visitors to the event.
For the third time, the Polish Register of Shipping, participated in the fair as part of a joint stand of the Polish maritime industry, under the wings of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the so-called Polish Pavilion. A total of 28 Polish companies participated in the event.
The crew of the PRS stand consisted of the director and employees of the PRS Piraeus branch office, and management from the headquarters in Gdansk, headed by Jacek Witt, member of the Board.
Before the official opening of the exhibition, a series of accompanying sports competitions took place, in which representatives of the Polish Pavilion took part. The PRS representation participated in two of the 5 sporting events, i.e. in the Posidonia Cup and the Posidonia Running Event.
The official opening of the Polish Pavilion took place one hour before the inauguration ceremony of Posidonia 2024. The so-called ribbon cutting was performed by Arkadiusz Marchewka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, and Jakub Wisniewski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the second day of the fair, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Greece with funds from the DWE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, with substantive support from the Ministry of Infrastructure, organized a seminar titled “POLAND – Thinking out of the box about maritime industry,” aimed at providing an opportunity to present the Polish maritime industry’s offer to participants and visitors to the fair. The event attracted more than 160 people. Opening speeches were given by ministers Jakub Wisniewski and Arkadiusz Marchewka, followed by presentations by Polish maritime entrepreneurs, including PRS – our institution was presented by Aleksander Łęgowski, Ship Division director. After the presentation session in the evening, the seminar participants had the opportunity to continue discussions at a business cocktail party organized by PRS in partnership with the Embassy of Poland. Among the guests, in addition to those invited by the Embassy, were the closest associates of the Piraeus Branch Office, as well as representatives of maritime administrations, including Cyprus, Marshall Islands, Panama, Greece, Antiqua & Barbuda.
During the fair, our booth hosted numerous meetings and discussions with representatives of current clients and companies interested in cooperating with the Polish classifier. We are pleased that PRS services attracted also new customers.
